1973 Genuine Lotus Elan Sprint DHC Also on Piston Heads
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 12 YEARS, I bought the car from another local club member.
During my ownership the Elan has been maintained regardless of cost and I have two binders of invoices as proof. The car has the 3.55 diff fitted and as a result the car returns a high mpg ( mid 30s). The car also benefits from
1) Aluminium petrol tank
2) Mick Miller drive shafts
3) Roll over bar and side impact protection.
During my ownership I have undertaken the following
4) Engine Rebuild
5) New wiring Harness
6) New Dashboard
7) New Aluminium S3 Radiator
8) New Electric Fan
9) New Alden Electronic ignition
10) New Suspension all round
11) New suspension bushes (Rubber)
12) New front callipers
13) Overhauled rear callipers
14) Adjustable hand brake rods
15) New pre engaged starter motor
16) Alternator
17) While the dashboard was being replaced I had the heater matrix overhauled
18) New Servo
19) New Clutch including the correct release bearing
20) New Brake master cylinder
21) New clutch master and slave cylinders
22) New window wiper motor and drive.
23) The spare tyre is brand new last year and has never been on the road.
The car is very reliable and has taken part in many of our clubs outings and mini breaks and undertook the Absolute Lotus Scottish Tour. Its a great car and have enjoyed my 12 years of ownership but giving three Lotus the time they need for regular use is proving difficult for me.
The car is always MOT d and has never had an advisory during my ownership. Just to note, the battery is now in its rightful place, the boot
The car does have some pin hole blisters on some panels (osmosis) but has no bearing on the reliability and performance of this great car.
